I am on a mission to get the book that changed believers in the 16th. century into committed christians that were willing to face death rather than deny their faith. The bible was not available to very many in that day because it was believed that only the church should have a copy of the scriptures. But John Bunyan wrote while in jail, Pilgrim's Progress, and the common working man and family could now read the Word of God through the experiences of "Chrisitan" on his way to Mt. Zion from the city of Destruction. They had a hero they could read about and follow in their own lives.
I have a series of messages on Pilgrim's Progress that I preached in my church which has caused a renewed desire to grow spirutally committed to the Gospel. I developed a workbook and teacher's book that was a great blessing during the study.
Charles H. Spurgeon, the prince of preachers, said he had read Pilgrim's Progress over one hundred times during his ministry. It is said that he quoted Pigrim's Progress on the average of once every three sermons.
My question is; "how can christians know where they ought to be, if they don't know where they are in the christian life." John Buyan's book is all about progress in maturity, we are in regress spiriutally in most of our churches.
Pray for the minsitry, and let me know what you think about this mission.
